Forensic Psychology Assessments

Forensic psychology assessments involve evaluating the likelihood of future behaviour by individuals involved with a third party such as the criminal justice system or a civil tribunal.

This type of assessment is based on a comprehensive clinical interview, psychometrics, a review of relevant collateral information and the use of a risk assessment tool or framework. This allows for the clinician to provide advice in regard to an individual’s risk and make recommendations for appropriate interventions and management strategies.

These types of assessments play a crucial role in informing legal decisions, such as sentencing and parole hearings, and help to ensure public safety by identifying potential risks and treatment needs.

At A&U Psychology, we are committed to applying our specialised knowledge and skills to understand and analyse the behaviour of individuals involved in the criminal justice system.  We provide assessments on the following behaviours of concern:

  • Sexual violence
  • Violence (general and targeted violence)
  • General offending
  • Domestic violence (including intimate partner violence, elder abuse and child abuse)
  • Stalking
  • Arson
